Job DescriptionThe PR and Communications Manager for the North American market is responsible for driving earned media activities. The role sits within the Marketing & Communications team and reports to the Corporate Communications Director. Developing and executing on the PR plan will be key to generate solid PR opportunities through media engagements, press releases, influencer relations, thought leadership initiatives, speaking opportunities, and other outbound activities.

Why you are important to us
Around 50 million people across the globe have conditions that leave them unable to express themselves, but only a fraction of them get access to the appropriate solutions. Most aren’t aware that communication aids like ours exists. Our Marketing Team works to close that gap through storytelling that shows what’s possible when people find their voice. Your role is critical to help us develop the strategies and tactics needed to reach and engage with press, influencers and other relevant audiences. The US is Tobii Dynavox’s largest market. You will be able to collaborate closely with many of the company’s experts and your new colleagues in our US office, as well as those located across the world.
QualificationsWhat We Are Looking For:
A creative PR professional with bold ideas and the grit to turn them into reality. Someone who loves to find different angles to tell a story. Curious about the society and new technology, as well as happy to share your opinions and build relationships. Tobii Dynavox is full of people with big hearts and open minds. We believe that those values are important to you too. You are a team player, but also used to driving big projects independently if needed.
Do you have experience working at a PR agency or client-side (maybe both?) A skilled writer with strong journalist relationships, who wants to use your communication skills and creativity to make a true difference in people’s lives. You live/work in the eastern time zone, but bonus points if you live near Pittsburgh, PA.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage public relations
- Develop and execute on the PR plan
- Proactively identify PR opportunities and conduct media outreach to generate coverage
- Guide spokespeople and follow up on media coverage & results
- Write press releases, blog posts and other marketing/communications-related content
- Help develop and execute on the plan for influencer relations and speaking opportunities
- Contribute as a mid-senior level member in a team of marketing specialists, copywriters, designers, developers to progress the team’s results
- Partner with and support global public relations activity and communications as needed
- Perform various other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Marketing, Communications or Journalism
- 3-plus years of relevant PR working experience from PR agency or inhouse
- Great understanding of online marketing and communication fundamentals.
- A team player, with ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
WORK ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENT
- Standard requirements
- Travel 10-15%
- Is flexible, service-oriented, and works independently
- Flexibility in work hours to accommodate for time zone differences.
